These are gorgeous Phidippus audax 'Big Bend' females.
Because males develope late, we can sometimes get it wrong, but we are pretty sure these are female.
They are a new audax locale to the UK, and these are the first of our offspring.
They have been captive bred by us.
They left the nest 7/24...9/24 & 10/24 from 3 different pairings.
They have stunning vibrant colouration.
They are 12mm +
And are feeding very well on green and blue bottle flies.
Audax originate from Florida and there are 3 different variants. Normal audax, audax, audax Bryantae, and audax Big Bends.
Big Bends have more Vibrant Orange with bolder markings, unlike normal audax which are mostly black, and audax Bryantae which are not as Vibrant and usually have a band of cream or white around the edge of their pattern.
Some Big Bends even have funky irregular patterns, like 'Bat Man' one of our Dads.
audax Big Bend are also Rare, as they are only found in a small pocket in Panhandle Florida, there are not many found often in the wild.
They are a very friendly and easy to care for species.
Please remember to provide a bright white led light directly above the enclosure for their wellbeing.
